  1. May 2026 – Oct 2026

    Visiting PhD Researcher

    Università degli Studi dell’Aquila · L’Aquila, Italy

    • A research visit funded by a Mitacs Globalink Research Award, with Prof. Anna Chiaradonna.
    • Co-developed two seismic site-response analysis programs, from the numerical formulation to verification against reference codes.
    • Presented the work at the national conference of the Italian Geotechnical Society.
  2. May 2023 – Now

    PhD Researcher, Soil Dynamics Laboratory

Université de Sherbrooke · Sherbrooke, Quebec

    • Wrote user-defined constitutive models for FLAC3D and FLAC2D, from the theory through implementation, calibration and validation, for pore-pressure build-up and strength loss in earthquakes.
    • Preparing a technical report and a user manual, so practising engineers can use the models.
    • Three-dimensional modelling of pile foundations in liquefiable soils, in FLAC3D and MIDAS GTS NX.
    The research
  3. Jun 2014 – Mar 2023

    Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Geosol Engineering Company · Muscat, Oman

    • Led the geotechnical design of major projects, including the Duqm Power Plant, where the foundations came in 10% cheaper.
    • Wrote more than 100 geotechnical reports, interpreted pile load tests and produced technical drawings, backed by more than 25 site visits.
    • Evaluated more than 80 technical proposals, saving the company 10–20%.
    • Explained the findings to clients and to the other disciplines on each project.
  4. Dec 2013 – Jun 2014

    Geotechnical Engineer

    A&A Consultants · Cairo, Egypt

    • Brought in a new design-review process that cut errors by 15%; testing, soil classification and technical reports.
  5. Dec 2011 – Dec 2013

    Geotechnical Engineer

Nile Engineering Consulting Bureau · Cairo, Egypt

    • Led a team of 18 geologists and technicians; more than 80 projects delivered on schedule and within budget.
    • Supervised two outside quality-control laboratories, and ran training that raised the team’s productivity by 20%.
